Job Summary
Supervise law enforcement and civilian personnel during assigned shifts, ensuring all actions comply with procedures and applicable laws. Review documentation reports for accuracy and coordinate with outside agencies regarding crime investigations and disaster preparedness. Conduct daily inspections of nuisances, unsafe structures, and fences, researching ownership to verify violations and prepare abatement cases. Lead and train employees by organizing work assignments, prioritizing tasks, and establishing policies for code enforcement. Act as a liaison with the public, community groups, and state/federal officials while answering inquiries about local laws. Investigate complaints concerning shift personnel and maintain confidentiality of all work-related information.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or a closely related field
- two years' of full time experience in law enforcement
- two years full time supervisor experience in law enforcement
- at minimum a Basic Peace officer certification issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE)
- Licensed Texas Basic Texas Peace Officer
- Licensed Code Enforcement Officer
- Possession of a valid Driver's License
- Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 160 pounds
