Job Summary
Execute sensory and product development projects for new products, processes, and continuous improvement, acting as the primary Sensory Scientist for HP Hood. Identify methodology, plan, and analyze sensory and consumer tests while generating results decks with clear learnings to facilitate decision-making. Develop technical timelines, benchtop samples, ingredient specs, and semi-finished goods specifications. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external fielding agencies to drive insights for Hood, Heluva Good, Lactaid, and other branded dairy and non-dairy products. Apply statistical analysis, DOE, and SPC best practices to maintain existing products through new suppliers and process improvements. Travel as needed for business.
Required Qualifications
- BS + 5 years industry experience OR MS/PhD + 0-3 years industry experience
- Masters/Bachelor of Science/Engineering degree in relevant scientific field of study
- Foundational technical knowledge of food science, sensory science, and data analysis
- Understanding of and ability to apply sensory and consumer best practices
- Ability to use knowledge covering Product Development, statistical analysis, DOE, and SPC
- Capacity and ability to manage several projects concurrently
- Basic understanding of a technical segment of Hood products, sensory attributes, and the corresponding Customer and Consumer needs
- Ability to design research that aids customer relationships and elevate sales materials
