Job Summary

Manage daily sensory laboratory operations, including sample handling, protocol compliance, and scheduling of panel sessions to meet client turnaround times. Lead panel recruitment, training, calibration, and performance monitoring while overseeing monthly employment hours and budget tracking. Execute sensory studies using approved methodologies, run panel sessions, collect data via FIZZ, and ensure accuracy prior to reporting. Coach panel leaders and technicians, coordinate workload allocation, and foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the team. Present partnership updates, KPIs, and progress reports to the client, addressing any issues with projects or materials promptly.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Food Science, Biology, Cosmetic Science, Psychology, Marketing or related field
  • at least 5 years of industry experience
  • Strong sensory science expertise
  • experience in technical product testing
  • experience in descriptive panel leadership
  • experience in sensory training
  • Solid understanding of sensory testing methodologies
  • Solid understanding of statistics applied to sensory data
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to manage panel dynamics
  • Ability to manage multiple operational activities simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain panel objectivity and discipline
  • Ability to maintain performance consistency
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Proficiency with sensory software such as FIZZ, Compusense, or similar tools
  • Strong Analytical skills

  • Ability to adapt to changes in real-time
  • Ability to meet timelines
  • Confident communicator in English, both spoken and written

  • Willingness and ability to work onsite at the client's facility in Clark, NJ
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
  • Shift: Full-Time (Additional hours as needed)
  • Experience working in the cosmetics or personal care industry
  • Completion of the UC Davis Sensory and Consumer Science Certification
  • Demonstrated people-management experience, including coaching, developing, and leading sensory panel teams or technical staff
