Job Summary
Sensor development lead responsible for defining the technical direction and roadmap for Waabi's sensor stack, including Lidar, Radar, and Camera integration, vendor relationships, and validation. Lead the end-to-end sensor integration pipeline, optimize sensor configurations for Waabi Driver across multiple generations, collaborate with Systems/Hardware teams to establish sensor requirements, monitor data integrity and environmental interference, and partner with Autonomy & AI to ensure data quality supports autonomy performance. Provide cross-functional leadership to the team, guide sensor simulation and validation efforts with the Sim team, and drive a cohesive technical strategy aligned with Waabi’s autonomous vehicle roadmap. Requirements include 10+ years in sensor development for autonomous systems, 5+ years in leadership, a relevant BS degree, proven leadership and strategic capabilities, and strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience with Lidar, Radar and Camera
- 5+ years in a leadership role
- Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Proven experience in leading technical teams in sensor development, validation, or integration for complex systems
- Deep technical knowledge of automotive or robotics sensors (Lidar, Radar, Cameras)
- Demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy and roadmap development
- Experience in developing sensor requirements and managing vendor relationships
- Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Open-minded and collaborative team player with a willingness to assist others
- Passionate about self-driving technologies, tackling complex problems, and creating innovative solutions
