Job Summary
Senior Writer and Media Coordinator responsible for translating complex technical, scientific, and operational topics into clear, audience-focused communications products. Core duties include researching, writing, editing, and coordinating communications for leadership, workforce, stakeholders, and public-facing initiatives; developing articles, newsletters, executive communications, talking points, fact sheets, web content, success stories, and outreach materials; conducting interviews with leadership and technical SMEs to gather information and identify story opportunities; translating complex information into accessible content for diverse audiences; supporting editorial calendars, content planning, media pitches, and external publication content; supporting media outreach, stakeholder engagement, and thought leadership initiatives; and assisting with communications campaigns, conferences, demonstrations, and outreach events.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience
- Experience producing communications products for government, technology, research, or public-sector programs
- Experience developing executive comms, newsletters, and stakeholder-focused content
- Ability to manage multiple assignments in a collaborative environment
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting science, technology, cybersecurity, homeland security, or R&D programs
- Media outreach, article pitching, or publication development experience
- Familiarity with digital communications and social media support
