Job Summary
Build, implement, and maintain the Windows Server platform across 3,000+ servers by executing patching, imaging, and deployment standards. Operate Hyper-V or VMware virtualization environments, manage SCCM/MECM patch cycles, and remediate failures from vulnerability scanner outputs. Develop PowerShell automation for provisioning, configuration, and reporting while performing advanced root-cause analysis on complex infrastructure issues. Support Active Directory tasks including domain-join automation and GPO application. Contribute to standards documentation and guide junior engineers. This hands-on senior engineering role focuses on large-scale server infrastructure rather than endpoint support.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience administering Windows Server (2016/2019/2022 and newer) at scale
- Practical experience operating an enterprise patching/configuration tool such as SCCM/MECM (Current Branch) or comparable
- Experience building or maintaining Windows Server images and executing standardized deployments
- Working knowledge of virtualization: Hyper-V (preferred) and/or VMware vSphere — provisioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Solid Active Directory, GPO, DNS, and Windows networking fundamentals
- Familiarity with vulnerability scanners (Qualys, Tenable, Rapid7) and security hardening baselines (CIS, DISA STIG)
- Self-directed and able to manage assigned workstreams with limited oversight
- Strong troubleshooting mindset and attention to detail under SLA pressure
- Clear written and verbal communication; able to document work and explain technical issues to peers and leadership
- Collaborative team contributor; mentors junior staff and shares knowledge
- Keeps current with Windows Server and virtualization technologies
- 6+ years in Windows Server infrastructure engineering, including hands-on work with enterprise patching, imaging, and virtualization at scale (hundreds to thousands of servers)
Desired Qualifications
- Proficient PowerShell scripting for automation and reporting; exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code or configuration management (DSC, Ansible, Terraform) is a plus
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (AZ-800/AZ-801)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) — for hybrid/cloud environments
- VMware VCP-DCV or equivalent Hyper-V/virtualization credential
