Job Summary
Senior Wildlife Biologist responsible for delivering high-quality wildlife programs and regulatory support in environmental projects. Lead or provide technical leadership on wildlife baseline programs, pre-construction assessments, wildlife sweeps, and protocol-driven surveys for birds, raptors, amphibians, bats, mammals, and species at risk; oversee project management tasks including proposals, work plans, budgets, and client invoicing; provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff; ensure compliance with provincial and federal wildlife regulations and regulatory reporting; require advanced degrees in wildlife biology or environmental science, and Professional Biologist designation, with extensive field experience in Western Canada.
Required Qualifications
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Wildlife Biology, Environmental Science or related field
- Professional Biologist (P.Biol.) designation in relevant Practice Areas
- Demonstrated experience with Alberta wildlife survey protocols, pre-disturbance sweeps, and field methodologies
- Strong understanding of provincial and federal legislation including Alberta Wildlife Act & Wildlife Sweep Protocols and Migratory Birds Regulations (2022) and Species at Risk Act
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with no restrictions
- 10+ years of work experience in environmental consulting or related industry
- Experience with EIAs, mitigation planning, and regulatory reporting
- Leadership and communication skills in a collaborative environment
- Ability to perform periodic field work
- Experience with wildlife components of regulatory processes (AER, AEP, AUC)
- Experience leading wildlife baseline programs, pre-construction assessments, and monitoring
