Senior Water Scientist and Hydrologist

Job Summary
Senior Water Scientist or Hydrologist to support high-quality bids and deliver water science consultancy. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of water scientists, hydrogeologists, hydromorphologists, aquatic ecologists and flood risk specialists to plan resources and budgets; identify and implement complex monitoring and field work (e.g. water quality monitoring, flow gauging, hydromorphological surveys, PWS investigations); deliver client-facing water science/hydrology advisory services and check/review processes; apply hydrological software and GIS to review data and develop robust, practical solutions; contribute to understanding how hydrological changes affect water quality, geomorphology and hydroecology. All team members engage with clients and consider health, safety, and environmental factors. The Water Environment team comprises geomorphology, hydrology, hydro-ecology, water quality and hydrogeology specialists, emphasizing collaboration and delivery across projects.
Required Qualifications
- Have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject such as geography, physical sciences, chemistry, maths, engineering etc.
- Experienced in hydrology (low flows and flood risk), hydromorphology, water quality and/or hydroecology
- Proficiency in the application of hydrological software and environmental modelling (hydrological/hydraulic/water quality/water resources)
- Proficiency in GIS software
- Report writing skills and ability to clearly present complex technical information visually and orally to a wide audience
- Experience in technical project delivery (from bid preparation, drafting technical proposals to project management)
