Job Summary
Senior Water Resources Engineer will lead data-driven hydrologic assessments and hydraulic modelling to support design and technical assurance for water resource management across Fortescue mine sites and projects. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing rainfall and hydrology data, performing hydrological assessments and surface water infrastructure design (culvert crossings, floodways, diversions), providing technical advice to project teams on water resource management influencing design, construction, and maintenance, supporting a diverse team across the value chain, preparing project scopes, technical specifications, and design reporting, and assisting with obtaining water approvals across relevant legislation. Requires experience in catchment hydrology, flood/hydraulic modelling, stormwater management design, proficiency in GIS and modelling software (RoRB, TUFLOW, HecRAS), strong written and verbal communication, meticulous data management, and the ability to work with cross-disciplinary professionals. Prior experience with water licensing (RiWI Act) is beneficial. Full work rights in Australia are required.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering or related discipline
- Minimum 8-years post-graduate experience in water resources engineering
- Experience in catchment hydrology/hydrological assessments, flood modelling/hydraulic modelling and stormwater management design
- Proficiency using GIS and industry-standard hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software packages including RoRB, TUFLOW and HecRAS
- Clear communication skills, written and verbal abilities
- Strong data management and manipulation skills with high attention to detail
- Prior experience with water licensing and RiWI Act permit requirements is beneficial
- Experience in consulting, mining sector or complex environments is highly desirable
