Senior Water Conveyance Engineer

Job Summary

Collaborate with pipeline design experts to develop and review design and construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates. Conduct field inspections and condition assessments to ensure compliance with design standards and regulations. Work on projects from planning through design and construction services, including new and rehabilitation pipe designs, while providing technical guidance to project teams and mentoring junior staff. Perform pipeline failure analysis, forensics analysis, and pressure pipe design using Mathcad or MATLAB, and produce clear engineering reports and documentation. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and relevant codes, including trenchless construction methods. This role requires a licensed PE with eight years of municipal water, wastewater, or stormwater pipeline experience, plus in-person Day 1 onboarding and U.S. travel.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering
  • 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency or experience and/or education
  • Licensed PE or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • 8 years of project experience in design of municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater pipeline design, analysis, installation, and inspection
  • Previous experience in Mathcad / MATLAB
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
  • Previous experience working with pipeline design codes, standards, and regulations
  • Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings
  • Must be able to travel through the United States
  • Must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (micro tunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure
  • Master's Degree
  • Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation
  • Past experience with pipeline condition assessment and analysis
  • Finite element analysis experience
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams
