Job Summary
Collaborate with pipeline design experts to develop and review design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for new and rehabilitation projects. Conduct field inspections and condition assessments to ensure compliance with design standards, while performing failure and forensics analysis on existing installations. Provide technical guidance to project teams and mentor junior staff through clear input on investigations and engineering reports. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and pipeline design codes, and participate in relevant organizations like AWWA. This role requires a licensed PE or ability to obtain within six months, eight years of municipal pipeline design experience, and proficiency in Mathcad or MATLAB. Travel across the United States is required, and in-person Day 1 onboarding is mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- BS in Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering
- 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency or experience and/or education
- Licensed PE or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- 8 years of project experience in design of municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater pipeline design, analysis, installation, and inspection
- Previous experience in Mathcad / MATLAB
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
- Must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
- Previous experience working with pipeline design codes, standards, and regulations
- Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings
- Must be able to travel through the United States
- Must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (micro tunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure
- Master's Degree
- Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation
- Past experience with pipeline condition assessment and analysis
- Finite element analysis experience
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams
