Senior Water Conveyance Engineer

Job Summary

Collaborate with pipeline design experts to develop and review design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for new and rehabilitation pipe projects. Conduct field inspections and condition assessments to ensure compliance with design standards, while performing failure and forensics analysis on existing installations. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff, and produce clear engineering reports and documentation. Stay current on industry trends and participate in relevant professional organizations. This role requires a licensed PE with 8+ years of municipal pipeline design experience, travel throughout the United States, and in-person Day 1 onboarding.

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Civil, Geotechnical or Structural Engineering
  • 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency or experience and/or education
  • Licensed PE or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
  • 8 years of project experience in design of municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater pipeline design, analysis, installation, and inspection
  • Previous experience in Mathcad / MATLAB
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License
  • Must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
  • Previous experience working with pipeline design codes, standards, and regulations
  • Strong ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D CAD drawings
  • Must be able to travel through the United States
  • Must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location as a condition of employment

Desired Qualifications

  • Understanding of construction methods, such as open-cut and trenchless (micro tunneling, jack and bore, etc.) for sewer and water infrastructure
  • 12 years of project experience in design of municipal water, wastewater and/or stormwater pipeline design, analysis, installation, and inspection
  • Master's Degree
  • Understanding of water and storm and sanitary sewer rehabilitation
  • Past experience with pipeline condition assessment and analysis
  • Finite element analysis experience
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams
