Job Summary
Conduct exceptional table service to guests, managing menu recommendations, dietary requirements, and special requests while coordinating course timing with kitchen and bar staff. Supervise and coordinate the wait staff team, providing training, mentoring, and ongoing support to ensure high-quality service delivery. Utilize upselling techniques to promote specials and beverage pairings, maintaining strict hygiene and safety standards for food handling and alcohol service. Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and assist with administrative duties such as shift reports and inventory control. Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with the ability to adjust to changing schedules and varying itineraries across different cruise ships.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Senior Waiter or in a similar role in a fine dining restaurant, upscale hotel, or cruise ship
- Previous experience in a multicultural and fast-paced environment
- Strong knowledge of food and beverage service, including fine dining etiquette, wine service, cocktail preparation, and menu presentation
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to guide and mentor junior staff
- Ability to delegate responsibilities, provide constructive feedback, and maintain a positive work environment
- A genuine passion for providing exceptional customer service
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in English
- Ability to work flexible hours and adjust to changing schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Willingness to work on different cruise ships and accommodate varying itineraries
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Understanding and adherence to hygiene and safety standards, including food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and responsible alcohol service
Desired Qualifications
- Additional language skills, especially those commonly spoken by cruise ship guests
- Relevant certifications in food safety, responsible alcohol service, or hospitality
