Job Summary
Senior role guiding regional leaders to translate DOC’s Heritage & Visitor Strategy into regional programs across the southern South Island, providing strategic visitor management and experience advice, and engaging with Te Tiriti partners and iwi. The position sits within the national Heritage & Visitor Unit and involves regular regional travel with a base in Queenstown, Dunedin, or Invercargill. The role emphasizes influencing leadership, applying strategic thinking to translate national directions into regional priorities, collaboration with diverse stakeholders, and support for continuous improvement of visitor experiences while safeguarding conservation values. A full driver licence is essential; salary range is NZD 92,912–NZD 117,570 depending on skills and experience. Eligibility requires a valid NZ work visa for the duration of employment.
