Job Summary

Manage the group's workflow and oversee the deal lifecycle for new opportunities, including pre-screening, guiding Portfolio Managers, and ensuring proper risk management and deal execution. Evaluate complex transactions, recommend structures to the deal team and Credit Risk Management, and review work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to underwriting best practices. Coach team members on legal documentation, third-party resource utilization, and performance development while managing evaluations and talent acquisition efforts. Directly manage a small portfolio of corporate credit clients by monitoring business conditions and identifying additional product opportunities. Partner with sales leaders to deliver the bank's balance sheet, manage risk/reward tradeoffs, and facilitate collaboration across the enterprise.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in finance, accounting, economics and/or business
  • Minimum 10 years of commercial underwriting, credit banking, or financial services experience, with industry expertise aligned to the assigned specialty
  • Competent with Microsoft Office and ability to learn and effectively utilize other technology applications
  • Broad experience with a variety of financial analysis/modeling scenarios including knowledge of secured and unsecured corporate cash flow lending
  • Extensive experience leveraging research, due diligence and prior deal knowledge to challenge assertions, assess corporate creditworthiness and provide recommendations for structuring and developing an underwriting package
  • Proven track record of efficiently and effectively identifying, executing and coordinating the delivery of comprehensive solutions for the lending product and advising others regarding underwriting process and best practices
  • Proven record of success managing a diverse portfolio, including left lead/administrative agent, and complex syndicated deals where strong relationships with credit and business partners and significant legal documentation experience were required
  • Proven success building client relationships, managing conflict resolution, and influencing to drive for effective business results
  • Extensive experience leading counsel and deal teams through credit agreement negotiation and documentation
  • Demonstrated enterprise mindset; extensive understanding of banking and investment banking products and services and current market dynamics, trends, and terms with a track record of delivering Key's relationship banking model to clients
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to collaboratively influence and challenge
  • Ability to lead others and deal teams, plan, multi-task, manage time effectively, work independently and coach others to do the same
  • Demonstrates an understanding of foundational accounting principles and can interpret and analyze financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements) to assess a company's financial health and ability to meet its obligations
  • Able to effectively utilize various tools and techniques, including financial ratios, to evaluate a borrower's financial strength and assess risk
  • Able to carefully evaluate the impact of all emerging and/or existing considerations and choose the best path forward using informed, rational, and effective decision-making techniques in various lending and business situations
  • Able to clearly, concisely, and persuasively convey information, whether verbal, written, or nonverbal
  • Able to effectively synthesize large amounts of complex information into a more consumable summary
