Job Summary
Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications leads the strategic development, implementation, and oversight of all marketing, branding, communications, and promotional initiatives for the Cabarrus County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The role drives visitation, enhances destination awareness, increases visitor spending, and positions Cabarrus County as a premier travel and tourism destination. Responsibilities include developing and executing marketing strategies and annual plans (advertising, PR, digital media, collateral, websites, social media), ensuring brand consistency, managing agency relationships, analyzing campaign performance and ROI, collaborating with sales to target group planners, building monthly reports for the Board, presenting to officials and partners, supervising a three-person marketing team, and representing the bureau at conferences and committees. Travel is required; the position is in-office with no remote eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, tourism, hospitality management, business administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training and expertise.
- Demonstrated leadership experience (minimum five to eight years) within a destination marketing organization, convention and visitors bureau, or related hospitality and tourism sector.
- Experience must include strategic planning, marketing development, communications and management.
- Willingness and ability to work weekends and evenings and be accessible to staff, agencies, clients and constituents while off duty as needed.
- Possess excellent written, oral, grammatical and communication skills.
- Experience with digital marketing platforms, analytics tools, CRM systems, and social media strategy.
- Passion for tourism, hospitality, and community promotion.
- Innovative mindset with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions and consumer behaviors.
- Some travel is required.
- This position is fully in-office and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work arrangements.
