Senior Vice President, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

Job Summary
Build a data-supported corporate HSE strategy, including comprehensive plans, policies, and standards across the organization. Provide strategic direction to Senior Operational Leads to ensure project compliance with federal, provincial, and state regulations. Oversee technical training activities, risk management approaches, and critical accident investigations while leveraging predictive analytics to identify and mitigate hazards. Conduct high-level health and safety audits at corporate, office, and project levels to verify adherence to internal and external requirements. Manage worker claims, develop executive and Board-level reporting, and act as the primary liaison with community and regulatory organizations. Mentor a national HSE team, champion safety excellence, and drive performance improvements to reduce Lost Time Injuries.
Required Qualifications
- 20+ years of progressive leadership experience within construction, infrastructure, industrial, manufacturing, utilities, mining, energy, transportation, or other complex, asset-intensive and highly regulated environments
- Significant experience leading enterprise-wide health, safety, environmental, risk, operational excellence, or related functions across complex, geographically dispersed operations
- Proven ability to develop and execute enterprise-wide strategies, transformation initiatives, and governance frameworks across national or multi-regional operations, including experience supporting organizational growth through acquisitions, integrations, and large-scale change initiatives
- Strong business acumen with the ability to translate data, trends, and operational insights into meaningful business outcomes and risk-management strategies
- Experience building executive-level reporting capabilities that support strategic decision-making and organizational accountability
- A recognized degree, diploma, or certification in Health & Safety Management (e.g., CRSP, CSP, NCSO, or equivalent)
- Exceptional knowledge of federal and provincial safety regulations, accident investigation methodologies, workers' compensation management, and environmental compliance requirements
- Experience leveraging analytics, leading indicators, and performance data to proactively manage risk and improve organizational performance
- Ability to engage and influence executive leadership teams, regulators, customers, and other key external stakeholders
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, from field staff to executive leadership and Boards of Directors
- Demonstrated success transforming and elevating enterprise HSE functions within high-growth, entrepreneurial organizations, with the ability to build scalable capabilities, strengthen accountability, and support evolving business needs through a growth-oriented and continuous improvement mindset
