Job Summary
Provide proactive legal counsel and strategic guidance to executive leadership across Corewell Health, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and risk tolerance. Lead legal affairs for the delivery system and corporate shared services, overseeing complex contracting, litigation strategy, and outside counsel management. Direct the structuring of collaborative, mission-driven physician relationships and advise on credentialing, peer review, and medical staff governance matters. Facilitate contract reviews and negotiations for material transactions while participating in the development of enterprise-wide legal standards. Conduct internal investigations and oversee Board committee legal support activities. Maintain consistent legal work product across all business entities and drive continuous improvement in client service delivery.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant in-house legal leadership experience
- Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school
- License to practice law - State Bar of Michigan - licensure within 6 months of hire
- 15 years of relevant experience actively practicing health law and representing/advising health system(s)
- experience in health systems that include a health plan
Desired Qualifications
- Healthcare legal experience with physician alignment and provider relationships, including physician employment, compensation, medical group affiliations, professional services agreements and other provider contracting and alignment arrangements
