Job Summary

Senior Vice President, Director of Human Resources to serve as the organization’s senior HR leader and a key strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Management Team. Responsible for aligning people strategy with business priorities across Chemung Canal Trust Company and affiliated banks, shaping talent acquisition and development, succession planning, organizational effectiveness, and culture. Leads talent management, performance, leadership development, and workforce planning; guides governance of total rewards, compensation, and benefits; oversees HR operations, regulatory compliance, risk management, and HR technology. Must oversee a small HR team (three direct reports) and drive alignment across a geographically dispersed organization, with a potential hybrid arrangement in Elmira, NY. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and 10–15+ years of HR leadership experience; strong communication, change leadership, and enterprise thinking are essential.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10–15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success leading or evolving HR strategy in a regulated or complex environment
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or strategic growth initiatives (HR due diligence, integration planning)
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, compensation structures, and regulatory compliance
  • Public company experience preferred
