Job Summary
Senior Veterinary Nurse role in Invercargill Companion Animal team on a 12-month fixed-term parental leave cover. Requires a senior, experienced nurse with hands-on surgical nursing, independence, and on-call availability. Responsibilities include surgical nursing from prep to post-op care, coaching junior nurses, running independent nurse consults with client education and follow-up, collecting diagnostic samples, digital radiography, fluids and IV catheter placement, and contributing to after-hours on-call coverage. Ideal candidate will have 3+ years of veterinary nursing experience, Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent), strong communication and client-care skills, and the ability to work autonomously and manage changing priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in Veterinary Nursing (or equivalent).
- 3+ years’ hands-on experience as a Veterinary Nurse — non-negotiable.
- Proven surgical nursing experience — comfortable running a surgical list from start to finish.
