Job Summary
Execute test procedures for full vehicles on track or road surfaces to validate attributes like durability, strength, and fatigue. Plan, implement, track, and document testing while ensuring vehicles are instrumented and test-ready. Drive vehicles to support issue diagnosis and root cause analysis, providing repair direction to technicians. Compile and analyze test data to form conclusions and deliver feedback to customers. Maintain high-quality database records and support implementation of new diagnostic or test equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Automotive Engineering, Automotive Engineering Technology, or equivalent
- Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in automotive systems design, development, or testing
- Strong understanding of powertrain and chassis system principles
- Ability to effectively read and interpret engineering illustrations and procedures
- Knowledge of fluid flow and heat transfer, systems, and components
- Knowledge of basic programming and electronics troubleshooting
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with Engineering design or testing of powertrain, chassis, body, or electrical systems
- Basic proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. Visual Basic, MATLAB, Python, C++, etc.)
- Familiarity with control module flashing, calibration files, and CAN signal communication
- Ability to use scientific measurement equipment (transducers, strain gauges, accelerometers, emission benches, etc.)
