Job Summary
Lead and deliver user research for complex public sector projects, guiding discovery and delivery activities, mentoring junior researchers, and influencing decision-making at senior levels. Build strong client relationships, provide actionable research recommendations, and align research outcomes with business objectives while partnering with product managers, designers, business analysts, and developers in a hybrid-UK remote environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years experience as a researcher
- Strong knowledge of UK public sector service design including GDS service standards and GOV.UK design system patterns
- End-to-end research capability from designing and running generative and evaluative studies to synthesising findings
- Ability to apply a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods (e.g., usability testing, depth interviews, surveys, co-design, diary studies)
- Stakeholder management experience engaging senior stakeholders and facilitating workshops
- Mentorship experience coaching junior researchers
- Understanding of ethical considerations in user research; accessibility and inclusive design knowledge (WCAG 2.2)
- Experience in Agile teams and iterative, user-centred delivery
- Strong consultancy and client relationship skills
- Portfolio or case studies demonstrating impact on product/service outcomes
