Job Summary
Senior Underwriting Developer, Protection (Singapore/Sydney) to lead a 12-month project updating the underwriting manual for Ocean across Protection products (Life, CI, TPD, IP), developing risk-based underwriting frameworks and medical evidence–driven loading, translating medical literature into defensible underwriting positions, and collaborating with AVP and development teams to ensure consistency and quality while supporting knowledge sharing and implementation readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Strong medical research background with proven ability to review, analyse, and interpret clinical and epidemiological evidence
- Experience translating complex medical research into practical underwriting guidance
- Familiarity with life insurance or reinsurance medical underwriting concepts (Life, CI, TPD, IP)
- High attention to detail with ability to produce clear, well-structured content
- Strong written communication skills to explain medical concepts to non-medical stakeholders
- Desirable experience contributing to underwriting manuals or automated underwriting content
- Experience with rule-based underwriting systems (e.g. Ocean) or similar platforms
- Background in insurance, reinsurance, or health risk assessment environments
- Ability to work to defined priorities and timelines in a delivery-focused environment
- Desirable collaboration with medical SMEs and stakeholders to ensure content is fit for purpose
