Job Summary
Underwrite downstream, midstream, and upstream Oil & Gas, Power Generation, and Heavy Industries insurance and reinsurance business within your Underwriting Authority. Make analytical, data-driven decisions to select and underwrite business while managing and developing your portfolio of Clients and Producers. Act as a thought leader for product development, leveraging research and client insights to advise senior management on strategy and refine offerings using AI. Maintain exceptional market presence as a go-to broker contact, strengthening relationships to win business and advocate for the firm's cross-selling opportunities. Collaborate cross-functionally with Risk Engineering, Claims, and other departments to optimize company performance. Mentor junior underwriters and participate in global team meetings to drive strategic objectives. Fulfill compliance requirements and escalate issues where necessary. Spend 10% of time traveling overseas.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years technical underwriting experience of the energy classes
- Advanced knowledge of Underwriting and Risk Engineering concepts, practices and procedures
- The ability to effectively interact with Brokers and internal departments
- Ability to travel overseas when necessary
- Bachelor's Degree (preferably of an engineering designation) with progress or achievement of professional examinations– e.g. CPCU or ACII
Desired Qualifications
- Fluency in English & Spanish with some knowledge of Portuguese (preferred)
- Competent negotiation, analytical and decision making capabilities and skills
- Established strategic and marketing capabilities
- IT/AI competency
- Understanding of insurance performance metrics and financial statements
