Job Summary
Evolve the visual language, components, and patterns of the Tide app by refining color palettes, typography, and visual hierarchy to create a polished, modern product experience. Identify high-impact opportunities across the interface to strengthen usability, accessibility, and brand perception while balancing aesthetic excellence with technical feasibility. Create compelling visual concepts and prototypes, then build strong narratives around design decisions to influence stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Brand, and Design. Champion high standards of visual craft through reviews and collaboration, ensuring the design system relies on clear guidance and well-maintained standards. Work within the Design Systems team to shape how millions of members experience the app daily.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in visual design, graphic design, UI design, or a related field
- strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing digital products
- Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, and/or other industry-standard software
- Experience working in/with design systems
- Exceptional UI design skills with a keen eye for detail, composition, and aesthetics
- Ability to balance visual craft with practical engineering feasibility
- Strong problem-solving abilities and an analytical mindset
- Excellent communication skills, able to clearly explain ideas, advocate for design decisions, and provide constructive feedback to teams & stakeholders
- D documentation skills (Storybook, Zeroheight)

- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in agile environments
- Leadership qualities with the ability to mentor and guide team members

Desired Qualifications
- Good understanding of HTML/CSS and front-end frameworks
- Experience with motion design and prototyping tools (e.g., After Effects, Principle)
- Experience mentoring junior designers
- Familiarity with accessibility auditing tools and processes
- You notice visual inconsistencies that others miss
- You have a strong point of view but remain open to evidence and collaboration
- You care as much about execution as you do ideas
- You believe a great UI builds trust, reinforces a brand and makes products easier to use
- You enjoy taking ownership and being the person who raises the visual bar for an entire product
