Senior Transportation Project Engineer

Job Summary
Lead technical supervision for complex transportation projects, ensuring deliverables conform to contractual scope, budget, and schedule. Coordinate design disciplines and subconsultants while developing 3D roadway models in AutoCAD Civil3D per MassDOT standards. Oversee plan sets, special provisions, and cost estimates, and assist project managers with planning, coordination, and proposal development. Supervise and train junior staff by reviewing designs, calculations, and assumptions, and manage direct reports including workload, timesheets, and career paths. Prepare oral presentations for clients, municipal boards, and professional conferences. Maintain quality control and positive client relationships across diverse civil, environmental, and traffic projects.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or other related Engineering discipline
- Professional Engineering License, or working towards licensure within one year, in a State(s) where Apex does work or ability to obtain same by reciprocity
- 5+ years of roadway design experience
- Strong writing skills to prepare technical memoranda, reports, proposals, contracts, and subcontract scopes of work
- AutoCAD experience is required
- Valid US driver's license and clean driving record
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of MassDOT plan set requirements and the MassDOT design process is a plus
- Complete Streets experience is a strong plus
