Job Summary
A Senior Transportation Engineer directs the planning and delivery of complex highway and multimodal infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and technical design; mentoring junior engineers; conducting traffic analysis and safety studies; and overseeing preparation of plans and specifications. The role requires strong expertise in highway and rural roadway infrastructure and experience with NEPA and permitting processes. Communication skills are essential for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging with clients, stakeholders, and governmental agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering
- Minimum 4 – 7 years’ experience in civil engineering/project management
- State of Alaska Professional civil engineering license
- Valid driver’s license
Desired Qualifications
- Experience managing federally funded projects
- Experience with the BIA and FHWA Tribal Transportation Program
- Experience in working in rural and remote communities
- Experience leading public meetings
- Knowledge of engineering principles and geotechnical considerations
