Job Summary
Lead and manage project tasks for innovative roadway design projects incorporating multimodal facilities, traffic calming, and green infrastructure. Initiate, plan, and execute submission packages to clients, including bidding, zoning, permitting, and construction document preparation. Prepare technical, cost, and scheduling decisions while ensuring quality standards through peer reviews and risk management. Provide expertise from conceptual design through final design and construction support, coordinating with architects, environmental, and geotechnical professionals to complete multi-disciplinary deliverables. Develop detailed civil design plans, specifications, and bid packages that meet scope, schedule, and quality requirements. Mentor project teams with technical guidance and skill-based solutions. This role supports New England state agencies and municipalities, offering a hybrid schedule in the Boston office.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
- 10 + years' experience in the design and preparation of construction contract documents for roadways
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- Experience with developing roadway designs in accordance with Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) or Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) design guidelines and standards
- Experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MiroStation - InRoads/OpenRoads, and AutoTURN
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Following an offer, candidates will be required to satisfactorily complete employment reference checks, verification of professional licensure and/or educational credentials, a motor vehicle report (MVR), and a comprehensive background check
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in 3D roadway models, horizontal alignments, profiles, cross sections, superelevation, guardrail, grading, sidewalk/curb ramps, detours/construction signing, construction phasing, quantity takeoffs, and estimates preferred
