Job Summary
Develop transmission line plans, profile drawings, hardware details, and grounding details while creating master sketches to scale that show proposed installations relative to existing facilities. Confer directly with engineering staff to interpret specifications, weight calculations, and stress factors, then accompany project team members on walkdowns at client sites to gather design information. Explain drawings to vendors and construction contractors to facilitate necessary design adjustments. Apply computer-aided drafting skills in AutoCAD 3D and MicroStation within a project team environment, utilizing hands-on training in 3D design software.
Required Qualifications
- An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and 1 or more years drafting course work or equivalent technical experience
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD
- 10 or more years of experience in design/drafting of Transmission Lines
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, drawings, and models
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer
- Ability to multi-task from project to project
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using Microstation, PLS-CADD, AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS software
