Job Summary
Senior Transit Lead Architect responsible for leading architectural design for vertical transit projects in the Alexandria, VA area. Provides senior leadership to project teams, coordinates design across disciplines, mentors junior staff, and supports business development and client communications. Develops designs and sketches input into Revit-based construction documents, directs BIM model maintenance, and ensures QC of design and red-line documents. Interfaces with clients, regulatory agencies, and sub-consultants; conducts site observations and field measurements; produces organized client exhibits (BlueBeam/PowerPoint); and delivers projects through all design stages while adhering to building codes and compliance requirements (TAS, ADAAG, Federal/State). Requires strong time management, ability to work with senior management, and a seller-doer approach. As part of the role, demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and supports career advancement within AtkinsRéalis. Expected compensation range is between $118,200- $197,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture
- Maryland Architect license
- LEED AP or sustainability certification (or intention to obtain within 6 months)
- Minimum 15-20 years of relevant architectural experience
- Experience coordinating multi-discipline work for complex architectural engineering projects
- Working knowledge of BIM/Revit
- Strong knowledge of building codes and compliance (including TAS, ADAAG, FEDERAL and STATE)
- Ability to lead and mentor junior staff and manage project deliverables
- Ability to perform QC reviews and coordinate with sub-consultants
- Proficiency in creating organized exhibits and client-facing materials (BlueBeam, PowerPoint)
- Ability to conduct site observations and field documentation
- Strong client-facing and presentation skills
- Proven ability to manage projects through all design phases
