Senior Training & Development Specialist, Technical Training BFM

Job Summary
Conduct classroom and practical training sessions covering bus maintenance topics including electrical systems, engine diagnostics, brake systems, and HVAC. Deliver training to unionized staff and management while demonstrating proper tooling use and safety procedures on actual buses or equipment. Evaluate trainee understanding through written and practical assessments, and provide on-the-job training as a mentor to develop targeted improvement programs. Collaborate with maintenance management to identify needs, design customized solutions, and manage staff skills matrices. Stay updated on latest maintenance techniques and incorporate multimedia tools to enhance engagement. Support the development of training materials and manuals.
Required Qualifications
- Certifications or Designations Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP), 310T or 310S Certification
- Completion of a postsecondary degree in, Business Administration, Adult Learning, Education, or a related discipline
- Valid G drivers license in good standing
- Process or successfully attain a CZ license through an internal training program
- All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Criminal Record Check
- Must be in their current role for 12 months prior to applying
- Must be in good standing (not participating in a Performance Improvement Plan)
- Must be able to travel to different maintenance sites
- Must be able to work varying schedules
- Must be able to support occasional shift work
- Must be able to work weekend shifts
- Must be able to stand for long periods
- Must be able to lift equipment
- Must be able to demonstrate repair techniques
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated years of experience in bus or heavy vehicle maintenance along with instructional design, training adults, and applying learning theory experience
- Experience working in a Garage/Shop environment or public transit
- Additional certifications in specialized areas such as HVAC, Electrical Systems, or Engines
- Previous experience in developing training materials, including manuals, presentations, and hands-on modules
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices to plan and support the development of individuals' skills and abilities so they continue to advance their current and future technical abilities
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.)
