Job Summary
Senior Traffic Engineer at Horrocks to plan, manage, and deliver complex transportation projects with a focus on ITS, traffic signals, and roadway lighting. Role leads projects from planning through design and construction support, oversees budgets, scheduling, staffing, and coordination; produces plans, specifications, estimates, and technical memoranda while ensuring compliance with MUTCD, FHWA, AASHTO, and state/local standards. Acts as primary technical point of contact for clients and agencies, provides technical oversight and mentorship to staff, and collaborates with roadway, structural, planning, utility, drainage, and construction teams. Requires a Civil Engineering degree (ABET-accredited), PE license, and 8+ years of experience in traffic/transportation engineering; design-build and advanced design tools/tools proficiency are a plus. Hybrid work arrangement available supporting Utah-based offices with potential to assist other western US offices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 8+ years of professional experience in traffic or transportation engineering
- Demonstrated experience managing projects and leading technical teams
Desired Qualifications
- PTOE certification (preferred)
- Design-Build experience (preferred)
- Proficiency with MicroStation OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred)
- Experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, or SIDRA (preferred)
