Senior Trader

On-siteToronto, Ontario, Canada

Full TimeSenior LevelSmall

Job Summary

Execute trades across equities, ETFs, derivatives, FX, digital assets, and physical commodities while owning the FX hedging program, including design, execution, monitoring, and reconciliation. Model and monitor FX positions and derivatives exposure, use AI tools to maintain execution analytics and track hedge performance, and manage daily cash balances and fund liquidity. Monitor intraday market conditions, approve market maker basket files, and ensure all activity complies with fund mandates and regulatory requirements. Escalate material exceptions promptly with full context and maintain accurate audit trails across all executed transactions.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a trading or capital markets execution role at a buy-side or sell-side institution
  • Demonstrated experience managing and executing an FX hedging program across multiple fund mandates
  • Hands-on experience trading and settling digital assets in a regulated or institutional environment
  • Proven multi-asset execution across equities, ETFs, derivatives, and FX
  • Proficiency with Bloomberg (EMSX, AIM, or equivalent OMS/EMS)
  • Quantitative fluency — able to independently model, monitor, and communicate FX and derivatives positions
  • Comfortable using AI tools such as Claude or Microsoft Copilot to automate analysis, surface exceptions, and improve how the desk operates — without needing to build the tools yourself
  • Strong understanding of the full trade lifecycle from execution through settlement
  • Precision and urgency in a live market environment — accurate under pressure, every time
  • Takes ownership — closes issues independently and escalates with context, not just flags
  • Natural collaborator — works openly with the team, shares knowledge, and contributes to a high-trust environment
  • Proactive communicator — updates, flags, and surfaces issues without being prompted
  • Improvement mindset — looks for better ways to do things and acts on them
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Immigration sponsorship is not offered for this role

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with OTC derivatives — swaps, structured products, or off-exchange instruments
  • Exposure to ETF market structure and authorised participant relationships
  • Experience leading or mentoring on a trading desk
  • Canadian securities licensing (CSC, CFA, or equivalent) is an asset
