Job Summary
Conduct detailed thermal analyses from initial design trade studies through qualification testing and production support, utilizing hand calculations and finite element tools like FloTHERM or ANSYS. Generate test plans to validate analyses and verify hardware compliance, then analyze test data to correlate models and ensure accuracy. Present results to internal, external, and government customers while acting as a peer reviewer and technical leader to refine department processes. This onsite role in Marlborough, MA supports the Mechanical Analysis and Test Department at RTX, focusing on structural and thermal design robustness for aerospace and defense products.
Required Qualifications
- U.S. citizen
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
- Active and existing security clearance
- Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience in thermal analysis with FloTHERM, PATRAN, Thermal Desktop/SINDA, ANSYS, or equivalent
- Experience in mechanical principles to solve classical thermal analysis solutions both inside and outside of finite element tools
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated experience in thermal testing: Planning, organization, execution, data reduction and correlation
- Clearance must be active and transferable prior to start date
Desired Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- 5+ years of professional experience in the thermal analysis of complex systems that require collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines
- Experience with solid modeling CAD tools such as CREO or equivalent
- Experience in Electronics Cooling and Aerodynamic Heating Analyses
- Experience presenting to external customers
- Demonstrated experience in leading a team of thermal analysts on program efforts
- Demonstrated experience in leading thermal testing, including model correlation
- Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
- Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines
- ABET accreditation
