Job Summary

Carry out testing, acceptance, and maintenance of Victoria Class Submarine systems and equipment while acting as Test Director for multi-disciplinary teams. Diagnose faults, troubleshoot issues, and perform corrective maintenance to ensure system readiness, providing technical leadership and oversight to Test Specialists. Resolve complex technical issues by communicating risks and solutions to stakeholders, and lead small teams to deliver program objectives. Record defects using company IT systems, draft and maintain test documentation and lockout/tagout procedures, and coordinate with Commissioning Managers and external contractors. Work in a dynamic shipyard waterfront environment, utilizing SAP and/or IFS software to support daily operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong technical skills including post-secondary education; degree, diploma and/or certificate in electrical engineering technology or mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Eligible for recognition as AScT, CET, EIT, or P. Eng. designation, as applicable, in British Columbia and/or Nova Scotia
  • 8+ years of related technical experience
  • Ability to work safely in physically demanding environments, including climbing ladders, working at heights, and operating around water
  • Capable of standing or walking for extended periods and working effectively in confined or restricted spaces
  • Demonstrated physical dexterity to perform tasks in tight, complex work environments
  • Comfortable working in an industrial environment around moving equipment (e.g., forklifts, cranes)
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain Canadian Secret Security Clearance and ITAR clearance

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in marine, naval, submarine, or offshore oil and gas operations
  • Hands-on experience operating, testing, or commissioning mechanical systems
  • Preferred working knowledge in a variety of: Mechanical related technologies, Hydraulic systems, Pneumatic systems, Internal Combustion Engines, Diesel, super/turbochargers, Mechanical linkages, alignment, rotating machinery, Pumps, valves, actuators, motors, Electrical systems and electronics related technologies: Alternating Current systems and power distribution control systems, Direct Current control systems, Fibre optic applications, Knowledge of uninterrupted power supplies and switching
