Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Optical Test Engineer to join our Test Engineering team. This role involves developing, executing, and maintaining optical test methods to verify product performance, providing hands-on test support for NPI and production, and driving continuous improvement in optical test processes. Candidates should have a degree in a relevant field, practical experience in optical testing, and strong troubleshooting skills. Responsibilities include owning optical test equipment, generating technical documentation, ensuring compliance with procedures, and mentoring junior engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Physics, Optical Engineering, Photonics, or a related discipline
- Practical experience in optical testing or metrology within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of optical principles (imaging, alignment, aberrations, tolerancing)
- Experience troubleshooting complex optical systems and test setups
- Ability to work effectively across multi‐disciplinary engineering and operations teams
- Clear technical communication and structured problem‐solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting NPI programmes and stage‐gate reviews
- Familiarity with optical test equipment (e.g. interferometry, MTF, alignment benches)
- Experience in regulated or high‐reliability sectors (Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Automotive)
- Knowledge of test automation or data analysis tools
