Job Summary
Senior Telecoms Engineer based in downtown Toronto. Accountabilities include planning and executing design, configuration, testing and commissioning activities for telecommunication subsystems; leading or contributing to SOWs; identifying and resolving interfaces between telecom subsystems (e.g., signaling, rolling stock); architecting and integrating medium-complex telecom networks with emphasis on networking and radio technologies; preparing conceptual, preliminary, detailed and installation designs; participating in product selections; creating Bills of Materials and supporting Purchasing to order equipment for wired and wireless telecom networks; handling medium to large-size projects; extensive knowledge of RF, fiber optics, networking, and wireless technologies; RAMS deliverables; project and team management experience; proficient with test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer); strong communication skills; requires a university degree in relevant engineering/IT discipline and 5-8 years of telecom engineering experience; CCNP or equivalent certification; English proficiency.
Required Qualifications
- University Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering or Information Technology
- 5-8 years of experience in Telecom engineering
- Knowledge of RF allocations, electromagnetic wave propagation, and RF field strength measurements
- Knowledge of fiber optics, computers, DSPs, servers, software/hardware related to radio communications
- Exposure to Passenger Information Systems technologies
- Extensive experience with complex network design (wired and wireless)
- Experience with network architecture design
- Knowledge of network design patterns, constraints and protocols (CCNP or equivalent)
- Knowledge of Switching and Routing protocols
- Knowledge of wireless communications in demanding scenarios
- RAMS deliverable experience
- Experience managing small-medium sized projects and project teams
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to use testing equipment (multi-meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzer)
- Detail oriented with organizational skills
- English proficiency
