Job Summary
Senior Technical Specialist in Travelers' Strategic Resolution Group (SRG) handling complex toxic tort, latent injury, sexual misconduct, environmental claims and/or excess claims with significant financial exposures. Under general supervision, the role manages large exposure claims, develops strategies for efficient and effective resolutions, and applies advanced knowledge of legal concepts across jurisdictions. The position provides mentoring, coaching, consulting, and training resources, and assists with interviewing and training junior employees. Responsibilities include: Coverage research and analysis to identify existing policies and prepare coverage recommendations; liability investigation and analysis to determine liability and advise on appropriate action; litigation management including file strategy, counsel engagement, settlements, and defense expenses; account management and stakeholder communication; financial analysis and budgeting for exposures; comprehensive file maintenance and administrative compliance; coaching and project leadership for special initiatives. Ideal candidate will demonstrate analytical thinking, communication, judgment, teamwork, accountability, customer focus, relationship management, regulatory knowledge, planning & organizing, and proficiency with SRG claim systems. License requirements may be required to comply with state regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5+ years of experience in toxic tort, latent injury, environmental claim and coverage determination
- 3 years experience in environmental claim and coverage determination or in handling severe, highly complex liability claims and litigation, or comparable claim litigation or legal experience plus 1 year of SRG experience
- Acquisition and maintenance of Insurance License(s) may be required to comply with state and Travelers requirements (license(s) must be obtained within three months of starting)
