Job Summary
Conduct advanced technical SEO audits for large, complex websites and international domain structures, analyzing crawling, indexing, and rendering to identify root causes of technical issues. Investigate and optimize crawl architecture, internal linking, and information architecture for sites with millions of URLs, while advising on migrations, replatforming, and URL structures involving JavaScript frameworks, SSR, CSR, and SSG. Perform log file analysis to understand crawler interactions and develop scripts, tooling, and automations that make recurring analyses faster and more scalable. Review technical solutions and specifications from an SEO perspective before implementation, working closely with developers to translate recommendations into clear technical requirements. Proactively improve SEO guidelines, workflows, and processes by developing innovative solutions to complex challenges and building frameworks adoptable across multiple clients.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and the ability to independently analyse source code and identify technical issues
- Strong understanding of HTTP and web architecture, including requests and responses, status codes, caching, redirects, headers and CDN behaviour
- Strong understanding of JavaScript SEO and the implications of client-side and server-side rendering for crawling, rendering and indexing
- Knowledge of technical concepts such as SSR, CSR, SSG, hydration and dynamic rendering
- Knowledge of crawling and indexing, and how search engines technically process websites
- Knowledge of txt, XML sitemaps, canonical tags, meta robots, X-Robots-Tag and other crawling and indexing directives
- Knowledge of Structured data and Schema.org
- Knowledge of Core Web Vitals and web performance
- Knowledge of international websites, hreflang and complex multi-market architectures
- Experience with website and platform migrations
- Understanding of crawl budget and scalable website architectures
- Ability to independently investigate and solve complex technical problems
- Ability to translate complex findings into clear priorities, recommendations and implementations for enterprise clients
- Ability to go deep into technology when needed
- Ability to work with SEO specialists, developers, solution architects, product teams and other technical stakeholders
- Ability to read code, manipulate data, work with APIs and build scripts or technical solutions when needed
- Ability to break down complex technical problems where there is no obvious answer
- Ability to define your own investigative approach and develop solutions that can realistically scale within enterprise organisations
- Ability to proactively improve the way we work, using tooling and AI to increase efficiency, quality and impact
- Ability to make significant improvements to SEO guidelines, workflows and processes
- Ability to develop innovative solutions to complex SEO challenges, including algorithm changes, large-scale site architecture, crawling and automation

- Ability to analyse HTML, JavaScript, HTTP requests, response headers, status codes, redirects, canonicalisation and robots directives
- Ability to investigate and optimise crawl architecture, internal linking and information architecture for websites with hundreds of thousands or millions of URLs
- Ability to advise on complex technical challenges involving migrations, replatforming, URL structures, faceted navigation, pagination, internationalisation and hreflang
- Ability to perform log file analysis to understand how Googlebot and other crawlers interact with websites and to improve crawl efficiency
- Ability to develop scripts, tooling and automation that make recurring analyses faster, more reliable and more scalable
- Ability to review technical solutions, specifications and implementations from an SEO perspective before they go live
- Ability to work closely with developers and engineering teams to translate SEO recommendations into clear technical requirements and tickets
