Job Summary
Senior Technical New York Labor Law Claims Specialist adjudicates New York Labor Law claims with focus on general liability, third party property damage, and third party bodily injury. Role is 100% in-office in New York City or Albany; requires deep knowledge of NY Labor Law adjudication, strong claim-management and negotiation skills, and a track record of complex claim resolution. Responsibilities include detailed information gathering and investigation, determining policy coverage, setting reserves, investigating claims, managing litigation, reporting trends to underwriters, coordinating resources, and delivering cost-efficient settlements. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, JD preferred, seven years of relevant experience, and licensing requirements per jurisdiction; strong communication, analytical, and organizational abilities; proficiency with MS Office and English-language written and verbal communication. The base salary ranges by location are provided, and includes eligibility for annual bonus and benefits; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and visa sponsorship is not available.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school strongly preferred
- Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating environmental claims beyond the minimum experience required may be substituted in lieu of a degree
- Licensed Claims Examiner (Based on state) must be licensed or have ability to quickly obtain a license in each jurisdiction requiring a license to adjudicate first party claims within 120 Days
- Seven years’ experience adjudicating commercial general liability claims with a focus on New York Labor Law
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build lasting relationships
- Strong claim negotiation skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and other business-related software
- Fluency in reading/writing English
- Willingness to work on-site in NYC or Albany
- Eligible to work in United States
- Employer requires legal authorization to work in the United States
