Job Summary
Senior Technical Author Electrical to develop and maintain operator, maintenance, and system manuals for radar and command & control systems used in the maritime domain. The role involves collecting technical information, researching specifications, collaborating with specialists, testing procedures on actual systems, and producing clear English technical documentation. You will lead documentation projects from start to finish, translate complex concepts into easily understandable information for end users, and work with XML, S1000D, and CSDB/CMS. The position supports hybrid working (e.g., work from home two days a week where role allows) and is based in Hengelo, East Netherlands. A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical engineering and 4+ years of relevant experience are required; knowledge of STE and S1000D is a plus. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical domain
- At least 4 years of experience as a Technical Author or a similar position
- Excellent knowledge of the English language, verbally and in writing
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to write accurate, consistent, clear and concise English
- Ability to lead documentation projects from start to finish
- Ability to translate difficult concepts into easily understandable information for end users
- Familiarity with XML and knowledge/experience of CSDB/CMS
- Knowledge of S1000D V3.0 and V4.1 Data Modules (DMs) is a plus
- Knowledge of STE (Simplified Technical English) is a plus
- Flexible and able to work independently or in a team
- Structured thinking and analytical skills
- Willingness to live/work in East part of The Netherlands
- Hybrid work capability allowed by role
- Willingness to engage in international collaboration
- Experience in Radar Systems and Command & Control Systems documentation
- Ability to manage projects end-to-end
