Job Summary
Senior Technical Artist role focusing on Unreal Engine pipeline development, shading and artist support, bridging artists and the Unreal Engine pipeline. Responsibilities include creating 3D art in the engine, supporting artists with the 3D art pipeline and engine tools, collaborating on high-quality 3D assets with emphasis on materials and shaders, improving workflows and tools, developing Unreal Engine art pipeline tools, troubleshooting engine asset pipeline issues, working with artists and QA to diagnose production challenges, ensuring up-to-date documentation, and empowering the art team to optimize workflows.
Required Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Unreal Engine Blueprints
- Strong expertise in Unreal Engine materials and shader development
- Advanced knowledge of material graphs
- PBR workflows
- Real-time rendering principles
- Experience developing tools within Unreal Engine
- Experience building configurators, automation tools, or similar systems
- Solid understanding of lighting, reflections, and surface response
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong teamwork and communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively under deadlines
- Fluent in English (written and spoken); German is a plus
- Programming knowledge (C++ and/or Python) is a plus
- Experience with USD (Universal Scene Description) is a plus
- Understanding of automotive shading standards (e.g., car paint, clear coat, interiors)
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Knowledge of shading and materials
- Knowledge of rendering pipelines (real-time and offline)
- Experience with premium brands or high-end productions
