Job Summary
Senior Technical Architect with deep expertise in Linux systems, cloud platforms, and enterprise application environments, responsible for end-to-end architecture, migrations, and operational sustainment of complex environments built on Liferay, Oracle/PostgreSQL, and Linux distributions. Key focus areas include system architecture documentation, migration planning (including CV/UCV to updated platforms in cloud environments), automation via Bash/PowerShell/Python, database and middleware management (Oracle, PostgreSQL, Liferay, Apache HTTPD, Tomcat), performance optimization, backup and disaster recovery strategies, and governance with ITSM processes. Requires 5+ years in technical architecture, strong Linux administration, cloud experience (Azure/AWS), and eligibility for Secret (Level II) security clearance in government/defence contexts. Compensation aligned to CAD 130-150/hr, with contract engagement and a Canadian location (Ottawa). Finally, the role emphasizes knowledge transfer, SOP development, and adherence to secure, mission-critical operational standards.
Required Qualifications
- College diploma or University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field
- 5+ years experience as a Technical Architect
- Minimum 5 years of Linux administration experience within the last 10 years
- Experience designing and supporting complex, multi-environment systems
- Experience with Linux server installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)
- Experience with Bash / PowerShell scripting for automation
- Experience supporting Oracle and PostgreSQL databases
- Familiarity with ITSM change management (RFC processes)
- Experience working in secure, government, or defence environments
- Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret (Level II) Canadian Federal Government Security clearance.
