Job Summary
Senior Technical Advisor providing high-level, remote nuclear safeguards expertise to the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Safeguards Technology. The role focuses on advising federal program managers on complex nonproliferation, arms control, and international nuclear safeguards policies; conducting advanced technical assessments; supporting interagency frameworks; and ensuring alignment of program decisions with nuclear fuel-cycle technical realities and international commitments. Responsibilities include technical review of SGTech deliverables, engagement with IAEA inquiries, strategic advisory on R&D topics and ITVs for NDA techniques, programmatic integration across NA-241 and related entities, and leadership across projects such as Carousel technology R&D, AUKUS-related efforts, and the Joint Fuel Cycle Study. Requires a Doctorate in a relevant field, 15+ years of experience, DOE Q. clearance, and expert NDA methods proficiency. Remote work allowed with salary between $200k-$225k; benefits include comprehensive health coverage and retirement plans.
Required Qualifications
- D. in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field
- 15+ years of experience in nuclear safeguards, non-proliferation, and nuclear security
- Current and active DOE Q Clearance (SCI access preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise in nondestructive assay (NDA) methods, including Gamma Spectrometry (HPGe), neutron detection, and Monte Carlo modeling (MCNP)
- Excellent analytical writing skills, with the ability to synthesize dense technical data for executive-level, non-technical stakeholders
