Job Summary

Senior Ophthalmic Technician to support oculoplastic physicians across multiple sites, handling both clinical and administrative duties. Responsibilities include engaging with patients, documenting histories, coordinating prior authorizations, performing comprehensive pre-examination testing (visual acuity, visual fields, tonometry, dilation), conducting advanced diagnostic testing (OCT, fundus photography, IOL Master, Pentacam, A-scan, B-scan, WaveScan/Vario, keratometry, lensometry, visual field testing), scribes in the EMR, administers ocular medications, assists during examinations and minor surgeries, communicates results, and ensures smooth clinic operations. Travel between locations (Rockville Centre, Little Neck, Brentwood, Babylon, Bethpage, Shirley) is required. Maintains HIPAA compliance and participates in ongoing training and development.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
  • Preferred: Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) or must be obtained within 45 days of hire
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification required, or candidate must be actively enrolled with completion expected within two (2) years of hire
  • Ability to travel between Rockville Centre, Little Neck, Brentwood, Babylon, Bethpage, Shirley locations
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance
