Senior Tech, Maintenance HVAC

Job Summary

Conduct daily troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of industrial HVAC, refrigeration, and utility systems supporting vaccine process equipment in GMP environments. Develop standard operating procedures, preventative maintenance plans, and calibration procedures while managing SAP transactions and change control activities. Read electrical prints and P&IDs to diagnose complex process systems, including chillers, cascade refrigeration, and automated equipment. Perform routine tasks such as equipment lubrication, filter changes, and rotating equipment inspections while adhering to Hazardous Energy Control Procedures and cGMP compliance. Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Automation teams to resolve deviations and optimize equipment performance. Work rotating day shifts with on-call availability for nights and weekends.

Required Qualifications

  • Industrial HVAC&R environment knowledge, specifically industrial refrigeration systems including DX systems, chillers, cascade refrigeration, freezers, air handlers, and cold boxes
  • HVAC&R troubleshooting skills
  • Experience with GMP areas, room pressurization, and dehumidification systems
  • Ability to read electrical prints, P&ID's, and understand P&ID control loops
  • Extensive industrial experience involving utility systems with a strong knowledge of HVAC, steam, and potable water
  • Minimum of 5 years of plant maintenance experience with knowledge of technical craft skills (instrumentation, electrical, plumbing, advanced mechanical, HVAC, and/or multi-stage refrigeration systems)
  • Familiarity of regulatory requirements in accordance with GMP manufacturing operations
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, work on platforms and equipment above floor level
  • Walking, bending, crawling, and stooping capability
  • Proficiency in computer systems and applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Proficiency in the use and knowledge of PCs (Hardware & Software) including Microsoft Windows platform
  • Technically capable with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Valid EPA 608 Certification or the ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
  • Ability to work effectively with peers and display strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and time management skills
  • Effective maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and advance several tasks in parallel and to completion
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to read P&ID's, electrical drawings, blueprints, etc.
  • Proficiency in the use of general hand and power tools, instruments, and testing apparatus
  • Routine shift availability (day)
  • Ability to support an on-call schedule on nights and weekends
  • Ability to work rotating days
  • Compliance with current good manufacturing procedures (cGMP), safety, and environmental requirements/regulations/guidelines/permitting
  • Efficient and safe maintenance and repair of equipment using Hazardous Energy Control Procedures
  • Clear consistent communication from shift to shift
  • Ability to manage Engineering Teams
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Siemens 'APOGEE/Desigo' BAS
  • Associate Degree in Industrial Refrigeration Systems, alternatively Mechanical, Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation
  • Experience working in a clean room or GMP/regulated manufacturing environment
  • Installation, operation, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting experience with automated process equipment in the biopharmaceutical field
  • Experience with GMP compliant calibration and/or maintenance database systems
  • Knowledge of SAP
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC's
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial HVAC and building automation systems
  • Extensive knowledge of industrial refrigeration systems which includes DX systems, cascade refrigeration systems, and absorption systems
  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as FDA
  • Desiccant Dehumidification System knowledge
  • Room pressure controls knowledge
  • Industrial experience involving utility system generation, distribution, and control and strong knowledge of steam, compressed air, refrigeration, and water systems
  • Knowledge of Siemens 'APOGEE/Desigo' BAS
