Job Summary
Review complex federal, state, and local tax returns for business, individual, partnership, and nonprofit clients while managing multiple engagements to ensure technical accuracy and compliance. Develop proactive tax planning strategies, identify savings opportunities, and collaborate with clients on strategic solutions for entity structuring and transactions. Supervise and mentor tax professionals by reviewing workpapers, providing coaching, and evaluating performance against firm standards. Stay current on evolving tax legislation and specialized areas such as international taxation and cross-border compliance to deliver innovative advisory services. Utilize tax preparation software and research tools to improve efficiency while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to professional ethics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Enrolled Agent (EA), or an equivalent professional credential
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive public accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, tax compliance, tax planning, and tax research
- Experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns for a variety of entity types
- Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements while meeting deadlines and maintaining exceptional quality standards
- Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to clients and stakeholders
- Experience leading, mentoring, and developing tax professionals in a collaborative environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, with the ability to learn new tax technologies and software platforms
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support client engagements and business development activities
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with tax preparation and engagement management software, including CCH ProSystem fx Engagement or similar platforms
- Experience using professional tax research tools such as CCH AnswerConnect, Thomson Reuters Checkpoint, Bloomberg Tax, or comparable research software
- Knowledge of international taxation, cross-border compliance, expatriate taxation, transaction advisory services, and tax implications of mergers and acquisitions
- Experience serving clients across multiple industries, including financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, nonprofit organizations, and closely held businesses
- Demonstrated success identifying business development opportunities and expanding client relationships through strategic tax advisory services
- Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with evolving tax legislation, regulatory guidance, and industry best practices
