Job Summary
Manage a portfolio of tax clients, ensuring exceptional service and timely delivery of complex tax planning, advisory, and compliance engagements. Conduct technical tax research to prepare well-supported recommendations on complex matters and review staff-prepared returns for accuracy against Canadian legislation. Partner with senior leadership to develop strategic tax solutions, oversee engagement budgets and billing, and lead the development of Managers and tax professionals through coaching and performance management. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen processes and operational efficiency while identifying new business opportunities to support practice growth. Maintain trusted advisor relationships through proactive guidance and stay current on legislative changes.
Required Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent
- Successful completion of the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting environment
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Tax Manager or Senior Tax Manager role
- Strong knowledge of Canadian tax planning, tax compliance, tax advisory, and tax research
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and providing technical guidance to tax professionals
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships
- Proven leadership experience mentoring, coaching, and developing high-performing teams
- Experience managing multiple client engagements, budgets, work in progress, billing, and competing deadlines
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, TaxPrep, CaseWare/CaseView, and tax research software
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
