Senior Tax Manager - Multistate

Job Summary
Review complex federal, state, and local income tax returns for partnerships, S corporations, and C corporations while advising clients on multistate tax matters, nexus determinations, and apportionment methodologies. Manage client engagements from planning through delivery, ensuring projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing proactive tax planning and consulting services, and research complex state tax issues to communicate practical solutions. Coordinate quarterly tax estimates, extensions, and year-end planning, then review and respond to federal and state tax notices to assist with audit and examination matters. Mentor tax staff and senior associates while collaborating with partners on client strategy and growth initiatives. Monitor changes in federal and state tax legislation to apply new developments to client situations.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of public accounting tax compliance experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Active CPA license
- Minimum of 2 years of experience reviewing tax returns in a Tax Manager or equivalent leadership role
- Extensive experience with multistate tax compliance, planning and consulting
- Knowledge of nexus, apportionment, state income tax filings, pass-through entity tax elections, and other SALT matters
- Strong experience reviewing partnership (Form 1065), S corporation (Form 1120-S), and C corporation (Form 1120) tax returns
- Proven ability to manage multiple client engagements and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing tax professionals
- Excellent communication, relationship management, and project management skills
- Work Model: Hybrid (minimum 3 days onsite per week)
- Locations: Raleigh, Durham, Wilmington, or Greenville, NC
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
