Job Summary
Own overall tax compliance processes for assigned entities, developing prioritized tax planning activities and supervising external and internal resources. Resolve complex technical tax issues by consulting experts, preparing memorandums, and communicating research findings to senior management. Review tax returns and workpapers for trusts, individuals, philanthropic entities, operating businesses, and investment entities prepared by third-party providers. Manage relationships with external advisors including budget, billings, and engagement letters, while liaising with lawyers, trustees, accountants, and brokers. Act as an in-house tax resource for other departments and lead cross-functional projects to support operational excellence. Manage tax audits and responses to taxing authority inquiries. This role requires 12+ years of tax compliance experience and a CPA or JD. Salary ranges from $175,000 to $305,000.
Required Qualifications
- 12+ years of recent experience with tax compliance, related research, and planning for high-net-worth individuals, flow-through entities, and trusts within a public accounting firm, family office, or wealth management tax department
- 5+ years of managerial experience with oversight of tax compliance processes, including resource allocation and budgeting
- Bachelors or master's degree in accounting or related field
